The UN Security Council adopted a resolution drafted by the United States that introduces a new set of sanctions against North Korea, limiting the country’s exports and imposing a cap on oil imports, Security Council President and Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United Nations Tekeda Alemu announced after the vote. "The result of the vote is as follows. The draft resolution received 15 votes in favor, the resolution has been adopted unanimously," Alemu said. The United States is not looking for war with North Korea unless it crosses the line with respect to its nuclear program, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said after the Security Council unanimously voted for new sanctions on Pyongyang. "We do not take pleasure in further strengthening sanctions today. We are not looking for war. The North Korean regime has not yet passed the point of no return. If it agrees to stop its nuclear program, it can reclaim its future," Haley told the Security Council after voting on the resolution on Monday. Moscow refutes North Korea’s claims to obtain nuclear power status and supports denuclearization of the peninsula, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia told the UN Security Council. "Russia does not recognize North Korean claims to obtain the status of a nuclear power and supported all UN Security Council resolutions that demand Pyongyang ceasing its missile programs with the goal of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula," Nebenzia said on Monday.
